Prerequisite:  Grade of “C” or better in MAT 152A, MAT 152AA or equivalent

Course Description (from LTCC Catalog):  This course is a continuation of MAT 152A or MAT 152AA.  The material covered includes factoring, operations, and equations with rational expressions, linear equations and inequalities with absolute values, solving systems of linear equations and inequalities, operations with exponents and radicals, solving radical equations, and solving quadratic equations.

Students with disabilities who require reasonable accommodation should inform your instructor and Disability Resource Center, Room A205, extension 249.

Financial Aid Office: Room A100, ext. 236.

Your grade will be based on the following:

            A ³ 90%

            80% £ B < 90%

            70% £ C < 80%

            60% £ D < 70%

F = other, including academic dishonesty.

Lake Tahoe Community College defines academic dishonesty as:

1.      Cheating on examinations, quizzes, or other forms of classroom assessment.  Cheating includes copying off of another student’s work in class or verbally getting answers or assistance from another student in class.

2.      Having another person complete work for a class and submitting that as one’s own.

3.      Using data storage or transmission devices, including cell phones, audio devices (iPods), blackberrys, PDAs, cheat sheets to cheat or complete work in the class.

4.      Any other act that constitutes cheating or dishonesty in the classroom.

Working with others on homework does not constitute cheating and is actually recommended.  Each online homework task has a possible correct response.  Calculators are allowed on homework but not exams.

Potentially helpful advice:

?         Complete homework in a timely manner.  Waiting until Sunday after dinner to start the week’s homework is not part of a recipe for success.  Complete as much of your homework as you can as early as possible.

?         Prepare specific questions which you have regarding homework or concepts in general, and ask those questions in class or during office hours.

?         Attend every minute of class.  There is one ten-minute rest break per class.

?         Please turn your cell phone off during class.

?         Utilize tabs in MyMathLab, which include Help Me Solve This; View an Example; Textbook; Video; and Animation.

?         Take the initiative to seek assistance when you need it, including but not limited to:

            Form productive study groups.

Seek help at Math Success Center, Room A201.

Meet with your instructor during office hours.

Student Evaluation:  There are a total of 1000 points for the course

                                                Overall Each                 Total
