REQUIRED TEXT: Geometry by Harold Jacobs, 2nd Edition
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This is a formal course in Geometry, covering the basics of lines, planes, angles, triangles, congruence, similarity, parallels, the Pythagorean Theorem, and special right angles. Methods of deductive reasoning will be studied. A portion of this class will be taught in the computer lab.
PREREQUISITE: Math 152A, 152B, or equivalent, or satisfactory score on Mathematics Assessment Test. (Math 152B may be taken concurrently.)
GRADING POLICY: Chapters 1 & 2 Exam 1 @ 100 points = 100 points Chapter 3 Exam 1 @ 100 points = 100 points Chapter 4 Exam 1 @ 100 points = 100 points Chapters 5 & 6 Exam 1 @ 100 points = 100 points Chapters 9 & 10 Exam 1 @ 100 points = 100 points Quizzes (based on homework) 5 @ 20 points = 100 points Final Exam (Chaps 1-6, 9-11) 1 @ 200 points = 200 points total = 800 points
The final is Tuesday, March 23rd, 1999 from 4:00-6:00 PM. Your letter grade will be based on your percentage of the possible points. The total possible is 800 points. A 90-100% B 80-89% C 70-79% D 60-69% F less than 60%
MAKE-UP POLICY: There are no make-ups for quizzes; however, one quiz will be dropped, taking the best 5 out of 6. Make-ups for Chapter Tests and the Final will be assessed a 10% penalty, (except with a written medical excuse).

TUTORING: Free tutoring is available in the Learning Assistance Center, room B107. Hours will be posted on the door of our classroom.
REGISTRATION: 1. You must register for this class at the Office of Admissions & Records. 2. The last day to drop the class with no record is Friday, January 29, 1999. 3. The last day to drop the class for a "W" grade is Friday, March 5, 1999. 4. After March 5, 1999, if you are enrolled, you will receive one of the following grades: A, B, C, D, F, or I (Incomplete, given in special circumstances.) In this class, it is YOUR responsibility to drop the class in order to avoid a grade!
