Prerequisite: Successful completion of Math 154 with a grade of “C” or better or the appropriate skill demonstrated through the math assessment process.

Course Description: This course covers the properties of logarithms and exponentials including circles, parabolas, ellipses, and hyperbolas.  It also covers systems of equations and their solution with Gaussian Elimination.  The course gives a brief introduction into linear programming and finishes with a discussion of sequences, series, permutations, and combinations.

Text: College Algebra and Trigonometry with Graphing Technology  by Stevens.

Exams: There will be 3 exams, occurring on Wednesday Jan. 16th, Wednesday February 6th, and Monday March 4th.  Students are to bring calculators, pencils or pens, and paper to each exam.  Grading will based on the progress towards the final answer, and the demonstration of understanding of the concept that is being tested, therefore, work must be shown in detail.  

Homework: Students are encouraged to collaborate with each other on the homework.  They may also gain assistance in the Gateway Math Center and with the instructor.  Calculators and computers can also be of assistance.  

Final: There will be a comprehensive final exam given on Monday, March 18th at 6:00 PM.  Students may bring a two-page formula sheet use during the final exam.

Attendance: If a class is missed, it is the responsibility of the student to check what was missed.  If a student is to miss an exam or a quiz, it is the responsibility of the student to contact the instructor prior to the exam or quiz and make arrangements for taking the exam or quiz.
