Midterm II Prep

On May 15, at 4 PM you will be taking your second midterm exam.  You are required to bring the following to the exam:

1)  Pencils or Pens

2)  Paper (for scrap- to be handed in)

3)  A clear and unstressed mind (preferable your own)J. No Calculators can be used for the exam.

The Midterm will cover the following topics:

A)  Translating English to Math

B)  Solving number problems (unknown quantities are numbers vs. $, % , etc.)

C)  Money word problems

D) Mixture word problems

E) Rate x Time = Distance problems

F)  Linear inequalities in one variable- be able to solve, graph and show in interval (opened or closed) notation

Don’t forget to change sign if multiplying or dividing by a negative number

G) Compound Inequalities- be able to solve, graph and show in interval (opened or closed) notation

H) Absolute Value Equations

Don’t forget to solve both equations (positive and negative distances)

I) Exponents

Zero exponents

Exponent = 1

Negative exponents

Product rule & Quotient rule

Power to a power rule

Don’t forget- exponent ONLY applies to number directly in front of it unless parentheses are used

Other Activities:

Look over the review section at the end of each chapter for key words, rules & steps.

Do the review exercises & test at the back of each chapter. (Only concepts we studied J)
