Members Present:  Kurt Green, Jon Kingsbury, Larry Green, Beachy Orr, Steve Fernald, Rosie Hackett

Staff:  Terry Livesay

Items discussed:

1)      Approval of minutes from March 21 meeting: Approved by consensus

2)  Discussion of SLOs and MASLOs for Web Site (Committee members to bring their ideas):

      The Committee discussed which courses would be listed on the Web Site and

      they agreed on the following:

            ART 253                     CUL 104                      MAT 201                    THE 105

            BIO 203                     DAN 104A                  MUS 210                    WLD 172

            BSN 117                      ENG 102                     PED 220

            BSN 122                     GEL 101                       SPA 210

       Larry will create a link for these courses on the Web Site.

3)  Start evaluation process of new courses submitted:

The committee reviewed the original 23 courses that were submitted for SLOs and MASLOs which resulted in nine being moved forward and 14 being returned to the initiator. 

4)  Evaluation of resubmitted courses:

There were no resubmitted courses.

5)  Other items:

a)     Kurt presented a handout regarding ‘Writing Student Learning Outcomes’  and will e-mail this to Larry to put on the Web Site.  The committee was in favor as this will give faculty a ‘How-to’ guide when writing their SLOs and MASLOs.

b)     Kurt presented a ‘Student Learning Outcomes Report’ and after review the committee agreed that there are still many courses that need SLO/MASLO updates as well as Title V updates.

c)     The committee discussed the possibility of faculty refusal to make recommended SLO/MASLO changes.  Among the areas discussed was the role and responsibility of the committee and its relationship to the Curriculum Committee.  It was agreed that further discussion is warranted.
