Lake Tahoe Community College SLO Committee Meeting Monday, November 13, 2006 - 3:30pm to 4:30pm Library – Room L113 Minutes
Members Present: Kurt Green, Jon Kingsbury, Beachy Orr, Steve Fernald, Larry Green Members Absent: Rosie Hackett Staff: Terry Livesay
Items discussed: 1) Approval of minutes from November 6 meeting: Approved by consensus
2) Further discussion of Terry’s role on the committee: Jon stated that it would be less time consuming to have the SLO Committee Web Site refer the courses approved by both the SLO and Curriculum Committees to our CMS Web Site. Faculty could then refer to these courses whenever they needed to. Larry stated that the purpose of listing the SLOs and MASLOs on the Web Site is to make these available for everyone. Further discussion will take place at a future meeting.
3) Continued discussion of faculty compensation: Continuation of this discussion did not take place at this meeting. This will take place at a future meeting.
4) Continue evaluation process of courses submitted for review on November 6: As assigned in the last meeting, all submitted courses were reviewed by members. The following is a list of suggestions that the committee decided on that Kurt will forward to the appropriate faculty members: · SLOs: 2 are too few / 14 are too many · Mechanics vs. individual training · Faculty needs to work on MASLOs · Give a copy of “Bloom’s Taxonomy” to each faculty member · Faculty needs to look at the materials that were given them
5) Other items: Kurt raised the question as to how the committee will return reviewed, but not approved, course outlines with comments to the initiator. It was recommended that Terry return them to the department head.
