SLO Committee Meeting

Members Present:  Kurt Green, Jon Kingsbury, Lisa Foley, Scott Valentine

Items discussed:

1)      Approval of minutes from November 5 meeting: Approved by consensus

2)  Start evaluation process of new courses submitted:

The committee reviewed the original 41 courses that were submitted for SLOs and MASLOs which resulted all being moved forward.  There were four additions which also resulted in all being moved forward.

3)  Other items:

a)     Kurt stated that the Humanities Department is 83% complete with their SLO updates, Vocational Ed is 49% complete, and Sciences is 70% complete.  The actual total is approximately 73% of all completed.  Kurt also stated that approximately 17 assessment schedules are in, i.e., Anthropology, Art, Biology, Business, Computer Applications/Office Technology, Computer and Information Sciences, Chemistry, English, General Studies, Geography, Geology, Music, Physical Education, Psychology, Sociology, Health, and World Languages, also Admissions and Records, Student Services.   

b)     Lisa stated that faculty is confused on the big picture as to what is due and when.  She asked Kurt if he could create a timeline.  Kurt stated that he already had one but just hasn’t sent it out yet, but will send it out very soon.

c)     Kurt spoke of the faculty not completely understanding what they were supposed to do, though it has been explained in detail.  Kurt would like to get the deans involved and Scott suggested having someone input it in their Outlook as a two week reminder, then a one week reminder.
