Items discussed:

1)      Approval of minutes from October 1 meeting: Approved by consensus

2)  Review of Program Level SLOs:

    This item was tabled to the October 15 meeting

3)  Standing report from the MASLO Committee:

    This item was tabled to the October 15 meeting

4)  Start evaluation process of new courses submitted:

The committee reviewed the original 24 courses that were submitted for SLOs and MASLOs which resulted in 23 being moved forward and one being returned to the initiator.  There were seven additions which resulted in all being moved forward.

5)  Other items:

a)     Kurt reported on the material that he received from the ‘Strengthening Student Success’ conference that he attended last week.  He also received from Lori Gaskin the “Rubric for Evaluating Institutional Effectiveness - Part III: Student Learning Outcomes” released by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges.  After reviewing the rubric, the committee agreed that LTCC has reached the ‘Development Level’ of the ‘Levels of Implementation.’  The committee also agreed that we need to address the components of the next level, ‘Proficiency.’

b)     Kurt presented the Student Learning Outcomes for the Career Services Program, Work Experience/Internship Program, and Admissions & Records as examples of department/program-level SLOs. 

c)     Jon suggested a template for the faculty to follow in developing their department/program SLOs:

Core Competencies

-         Program/Department SLOs

-         Course SLOs

-         Course MASLOs

The committee was in favor.
